Great news everyone. The Tribune has reported that Utah’s birthrate is now below replacement level! We should celebrate this fact — slowing population growth will mean a better quality of life for all of us in this state. And don’t believe the hype of those mentioned in the article who worry about the effects of a lower birthrate on the economy. PER CAPITA wealth gains — the only metric that really matters — are almost inevitably going to increase, regardless of the birthrate.
